Korg Native. Opsix/Wavestate

1:1 Software Ports Of Acclaimed Hardware Synths Launched

By

24 March 2022

Korg’s early 2020 hardware synth, wavestate, transforms raw samples into a unique palette of lush, evolving pads, driving rhythms and soundscapes. It takes wave sequencing to the next level with the reimagined Wave Sequencing 2.0. Shortly behind this comes opsix, the ‘altered’ six-operator FM synthesizer, which features a flexible sound engine that goes beyond traditional FM.

Korg have recognised that while some users like the hands-on experience that hardware can provide, others prefer the in-the-box workflow of their DAWs. In order to satiate both parties Korg presents wavestate native and opsix native, the fully-compatible software counterparts to their hardware forebears. Sounds can be exchanged between hardware and software interfaces meaning that users can produce in their DAW with the native plug-ins and then take these creations to the stage with hardware keyboards. Alternatively, sounds can be created with the hardware’s tactile interface and use those sounds in a DAW, or share them with computer-based collaborators.

Both are available in VST3, AAX, AU, and standalone formats on macOS and Windows. Owners of the hardware versions are eligible for a crossgrade license to the software versions. For details on how to crossgrade, please refer to the Korg’s website.
