Blokas: MODEP

A free port of MOD Devices’ operating system.

If you’re looking at getting away from the computer, this virtual pedalboard could be just the ticket. Originally designed for the MOD Devices MOD Duo pedal, MODEP is a community-based MOD Duo emulator that lets users access over 350 LV2 audio plugins — ranging from a simple reverb to a complex FM synth. With Modep, users are able to build low-cost DIY multi-effect pedals, using a Raspberry Pi and any Raspberry Pi compatible soundcard. The resulting HD audio multi-effect pedal provides a ton of processing power, which means that elaborate pedalboard setups can be created and run with it.

A cheap hardware option to run this on is the PiSound platform, also from Blokus, but more recently the PiStomp kit has also been developed by TreeFall. There are even details floating around on how to build a 6-input, 8-output beast.
